How large are the data files created in the scanning process?

For maximum accuracy, ImmunoSpot® analyzers can store its data in loss-free Tagged Inline File Format (TIFF) files. At 512x512 resolution, the image of each well is a 660 Kb file: a single CD can store the files for ten plates, and a DVD can store 70 plates. At 1024x1024 resolution, CDs and DVDs can store four and 30 plate images, respectively.

In addition, the ImmunoSpot® analyzers also allow JPEG images to be stored instead. The JPEG compression algorithm inherently introduces some image distortion and loss of information; however, they also require approximately 20 times less storage space.
