Specimen processing & cryopreservation
CTL provides laboratory services for processing and cryopreserving both pre-clinical and clinical specimens. Our scientific team has a wealth of experience in processing fresh peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) from a variety of test systems within a wide range of species.
We can isolate the PBMC from any given blood sample, discard any unwanted cell types, extract the serum for use in ELISA tests, and then cryopreserve the remaining PBMC. Our revolutionary cryopreservation method produces unparalleled recovery and viability rates, allowing us to freeze cells and maintain their effectiveness. This technology enables researchers to collect samples from multiple time points and evaluate them within the same assay, therefore allowing subjects to serve as their own controls.
At the customer’s request, we can provide shipping instructions, boxes, media, data loggers, and anything else that one would require for shipping specimens. CTL can also train and qualify customers in proper PBMC processing, freezing, and shipping procedures. Under this scenario, the clinical site would conduct a dry run in which they would process preliminary specimens to be tested by CTL. In this manner, the customer can ensure the proper recovery and viability rates before a single patient is enrolled.
